Aldi bird eggs are latest Easter treat for chocolate-loving shoppers

Budget supermarket Aldi has cracked it this Easter with the launch of its latest chocolate treat. The chain's decadent Specially Selected Exquisite Bird Eggs are a pocket pleasing £4.99 (140g) - more than £12 cheaper than similar products at an upmarket grocery store.

Carefully handcrafted with silky smooth Belgian milk chocolate, these hollow and filled intricate eggs have been made to look exactly like real British bird eggs. The largest Hen and Goose Eggs are accompanied by a bright Blue Duck Egg filled with luxurious milk ganache, two blonde chocolate Partridge Eggs filled with dark salted caramel, and four delicious white chocolate speckled Quail Eggs filled with delicious hazelnut praline.

They go on sale from March 20 - at a substantial 72 per cent cheaper than rival Muscovado Caramel & Lemon Fondant Gulls Egg products available to posh retailer Fortnum and Mason.

Aldi 's eggs are part of the supermarket’s biggest chocolate offering to date, including Dairyfine Ice Cream Eggs (£6.99, 215g), which won Good Housekeeping’s Best Easter Egg Design Award, and the Moser Roth Almond Egg (£5.99, 250g), which scooped Best Budget Egg at the same awards.
