Aldi has confirmed it will close its stores across the country for two days over the festive period to give all staff a break. The supermarket will not just close for Christmas day but Boxing day, too, in a bid to thank the staff for their hard work over the year.
Stores are also recruiting 'more people than ever' for the festive season as they are set to create 3,000 new jobs ahead of the holiday season. This year is expected to be one of the 'biggest-ever' Christmas with thousands of positions available across many stores, reports Leicestershire Live.

In addition to these roles, the company is already recruiting for 850 jobs across its 11 regional distribution centres. There are a number of permanent roles currently available, including warehouse selectors, logistics assistants and lorry drivers.
The festive jobs will be focused around replenishing stock in store and providing customers with additional assistance, as they shop for their families this December. Kelly Stokes, recruitment director at Aldi, said that this is the company's biggest-ever recruitment drive.
She said: "This year we’re recruiting more people than ever over the Christmas period to support the growing number of customers that are switching to Aldi. That includes a mix of temporary and permanent positions, as well as looking to fill both in-store roles and positions at our Regional Distribution Centres.
"Our amazing colleagues play a vital role in keeping our shelves stocked year-round which is why, once again, we’ll also be keeping our stores closed on Boxing Day as a thank you for all of their hard work."
