Aldi and Lidl are the undisputed champions of the cheapest weekly shop, with the supermarket giants taking the UK by storm in recent years by providing amazing value for money on hundreds of items.
However, despite the two stores being the go-to place for the 'big shop' for many of us, you might have been saying their names wrong this whole time.
Not only that, both Lidl and Aldi have weighed in on the issue and have clarified exactly how they should really be said.

According to Kent Live, some have been elongating the first vowel on Aldi, so it will sound like 'all-di' which the supermarket says is wrong.
According to the retailer, the first vowel of 'a' should be pronounce much harsher, similar to how we would say 'Al' in Al Pacino, for example.
Lidl's pronunciation is a little more complex as the supermarket's name is pronounced differently depending on where you are.
In Germany the brand's name is pronounced 'Lee-dil', similar to the name Leisel.
Whilst in the UK, the supermarket giant says that its name should be pronounced with a short, crisp 'li' at the start of the name, similar to the word little.
The German supermarkets have been growing at a rapid rate and were amongst a handful of supermarkets to see an increase in sales over the Christmas period.
