Aldi and Lidl are popular supermarket choices for many with them both battling to be the cheapest stores.
Over the recent years, they have proven themselves to be a serious contender against the major stores in the UK as they continue to provide value for money.
But as Kent Live, says, many people have been pronouncing the names all wrong and the supermarkets themselves have confirmed just how it should be said.

Some people across the UK have been elongating the first vowel on Aldi, making it sound like 'all-di', which the supermarket is quick to say it is wrong.
According to the retailer, the first vowel of 'a' should be pronounced much harsher, similar to how we would say 'Al' in Al Pacino, for example.
Lidl's pronunciation is a little more complex. The way the supermarket's name is said depends on where you are.
In Germany the brand's name is pronounced, Lee-dil, similar to the German name Leisel.
Whilst in the UK, the retailer says the name should be pronounced with a short, crisp 'li' at the start of the name, similar to the word little.
The German supermarkets have been growing at a rapid rate and were amongst a handful of supermarkets to see an increase in sales over the Christmas period.
According to Which? Aldi has been the cheapest supermarket of the month six times in 2021 but admits that Lidl puts up a tough competition.
In December 2021, Lidl actually bagged the top spot, the consumer champion announced.
