Albion Rovers star claims Player of the Month prize on his 21st birthday

Charlie Reilly received a bonus gift for his 21st birthday after collecting the cinch SPFL League Two Player of the Month award for November.

The Albion Rovers midfielder - who turned 21 today - picked up the award after helping his team to seven points out of nine last month but he knows there is still plenty of work to be done.

Reilly has netted nine goals in the league so far, including a double in the win at East Fife last month when he also hit the injury-time winner.

"November was a good month for me and the team," Reilly stated. "Apart from Dumbarton and Stirling Albion at the top, the league is very tight and if you win just one or two games you can jump back up closer to the top four.

"We know the top two are a bit away from the rest but our target is to get to the play-offs and get right to the final and hopefully win that last game.

"It's the best season I've had, scoring wise. It's not a bad number for a midfielder but I play quite high up as a winger and I'm always looking to score. I also have six or seven assists, so that's a bonus helping other players score.

"It was devastating to go out of the Scottish Cup but it gives us the chance to concentrate on the league now. I think we've played pretty well all season but some things just haven't been going our way and we've been conceding sucker-punch goals.

"We lost our first three games in the league but we probably should have had seven points from them - the breaks just didn't go our way.

"The festive period is always important and we just need to get as many points as we can before the end of the year to set ourselves up for the second half of the season."
