Albion Rovers round off Cliftonhill fixtures for season with Stirling Albion draw

Albion Rovers finished off their home matches at Cliftonhill for the League Two season with a 1-1 draw against Stirling Albion.

A Dale Carrick goal had Brian Reid's side trailing before they pulled back on level terms through David Wilson.

The Wee Rovers sit ninth while former boss Darren Young's men sit seventh and three points above them with one game to go, but they have a superior goal difference.

Carrick's opener was the first big chance of an overall quiet opening 45 minutes. A mix-up at the back allowed the former Hearts forward in to lob over goalkeeper Cammy Binnie after the half-hour mark.

Reid's team had lost 5-0 and 4-1 to Stranraer and Stenhousemuir in consecutive matches, keen to avoid another defeat.

Still competitive in the game, they had a chance through Charlie Reilly's free-kick but it sailed over the bar.

Wilson wouldn't be denied though after an hour, Kyle Doherty's chance blocked before the number eight followed up with a low shot into the bottom corner.

He then had to look alive at the other end to clear a Stirling cross that was waiting to be tapped into the net. Aron Lynas then had Rovers' last chance but his half-volley was tame and easily saved.

The Coatbridge outfit face basement club Cowdenbeath in their final match of the season next week.
