Albion Rovers bid farewell to star as 'work commitments' end Cliftonhill stint

Lewis Wilson has left Albion Rovers following the conclusion of the 2021/22 season.

The left-back has been at Cliftonhill since a 2018 move from fellow Lanarkshire side Clyde, having previously spent time at Cumbernauld Colts and Alloa.

He made 26 appearances for boss Brian Reid as the Wee Rovers achieved survival in League Two.

Work though means that Wilson is having to depart after over 80 appearances, five goals and seven assists.

Albion Rovers are yet to release their entire retained list but David Wilson's exit has already been confirmed after he joined Dumbarton.

A statement from the Coatbridge club reads: "Lewis Wilson departs the club after four years due to work commitments.

"Lewis was a versatile, hard-working and dedicated player. He has went on to feature 85 times for the Rovers, scoring 5 goals in the process.

"Lewis leaves the club as one of the longest serving players in recent times after joining the club in 2018.

"We wish him the best of luck in the future and thank him for everything that he has done for the club during his time."
