Albian Ajeti in cautious Celtic loan admission as Sturm Graz striker plots 'slow' career jump start

Celtic outcast Albian Ajeti reckons he is starting to find his best from against at Sturm Graz after netting his first goal for the Austrian side.

The Swiss international joined Celtic in a £5million summer move two years under Neil Lennon, but failed to make his mark on the Parkhead team during a torrid season in which the club were going for 10 in a row. Ajeti struggled to make an impression on boss Ange Postecoglou and was used sparingly by the Australian boss while Kyogo and Giorgios Giakoumakis were sidelined through injury.

He failed to make a single first team appearance following the January arrival of Daizen Maeda's firepower and despite being handed a chance in pre-season, he was moved out on loan the Austrian Bundesliga title hopefuls. He has struggled to hold down a regular place in the side since his move, but netted his first goal for his new club in the 3-0 win over Austria Wien.

Honest Ajeti was keen not to get carried away after finding the net. The former West Ham front man admits he is still struggling for fitness and is looking to adjust to his new club.

The Celtic l oanee told Kleine Zeitung : “It was a great team goal, it played out very nicely. I could have done one or two more things today, but it's coming slowly.

"My legs are getting fitter. I'm happy that I was able to score the first goal for Sturm. But the three points are much more important.

“Not everything works perfectly yet. We don't understand each other perfectly yet. We get along really well and we train together every day. I'm just trying to help the team."
