Alastair Campbell's daughter says he snubbed I'm A Celebrity before Matt Hancock signed

Alastair Campbell reportedly turned down being on the 2022 series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! before Matt Hancock jumped at the chance.

The journalist's daughter Grace took to her TikTok page where she posted an amusing video saying she and her dad were approached to go on the hit show.

The clips comes after it was announced that former Health Secretary Matt Hancock is entering the jungle.

Grace Campbell, whose TikTok name is @disgracecampbell filmed herself talking to the camera as she explained the situation.

She said: "Okay so Matt Hancock is obvious going on I'm A Celeb this year. Now I'm sure we can all agree that he's going to be a joke and I only say that simply from the way he touches a woman's a***, man's got no grip."

She added: "Anyway I woke up today and remembered that me and my dad were actually asked to do I'm A Celeb this year. They just really wanted my dad but they thought that maybe if they ask us as a pair, me being the nepotism baby that I am, would have convinced me to do it.

"Anyway my dad said no he's not doing it because he's just like extremely boring. But can you imagine me, my dad and Matt Hancock could have been in the jungle together this year.

"My dad who famously has a temper, eating worms for dinner then battering Matt Hancock. For the safety of Matt Hancock I think it was a really good thing that my dad said no."

Fans took to the comments to talk about if Alastair had gone into the jungle.

One person said: "That would of been hilarious."

As another wrote: "That would be awesome," while a third commented: "This would’ve been iconic."

Mr Hancock has been spotted in Australia ahead of taking on the challenge of I'm A Celeb.

The popular show will be returning to Australia for the first time in two years as the last two series were filmed in Wales due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Conservative Party politician has been stripped of the Tory whip after agreeing to appear on the ITV show.

A political ally close to the MP for West Suffolk has claimed Mr Hancock - who receives a £84,144 yearly salary as an elected MP - will declare the cash he receives for appearing on I'm a Celebrity before making 'a donation' to charity.

Mr Hancock is set to appear alongside a whole host of other celebs including, Olivia Attwood, Sue Cleaver, Boy George, Jill Scott, Chris Moyles, Scarlette Douglas amongst others.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! returns to our screens at 9pm on Sunday 6 November.
