Local bodies in Alappuzha have put up a good show in the utilisation of the Plan fund for 2021-22. Though final figures have not been released yet, as it stands, the district sits top in the Sate by utilising 93.08% of the allotted funds. Of the total ₹385.69-crore Plan outlay, the local bodies in the district utilised ₹359.01 crore in the last fiscal.
Karthikappally in Alappuzha has topped Plan fund utilisation among grama panchayats in the State. The local body achieved 123.67% utilisation of its Plan fund including spillover projects. As per data available on the Local Self-Government department website, Karthikappally expended an amount of ₹2.09 crore in 2021-22.
Over 75%
According to officials, Plan fund utilisation crossed the 75% mark in all grama panchayats in Alappuzha district. Karthikappally is followed by Punnapra South (122.6%) and Muhamma (121.48%). Among block panchayats, Chengannur bagged the second spot in the State by utilising 109.85% of the fund. In municipalities, Cherthala is leading the table in the district with 94.09% fund utilisation. The Alappuzha district panchayat has spent 74.17% of the allocated fund.
Of the ₹201.53 crore allocated to local self-government institutions in the district under the general category, the expenditure stands at ₹193.65 crore. In the Special Component Plan category, with a total outlay of ₹75.56 crore, the local bodies have spent ₹67.73 crore. The local institutions spent ₹96.96 crore of the total ₹107.9 crore earmarked under the Central Finance Commission grant. The Plan fund utilisation under the Tribal Sub-Plan stands at ₹68 lakh.
