Alana 'Honey Boo Boo' Thompson, is undergoing a big weight-loss procedure next month.
The 16-year-old is having a £11K Suture Sculpt procedure which sees a suturing device inserted into the patient's throat and down to the stomach which is then sutured - sewed - to make it smaller
The 16-year-old Mama June: Road to Redemption star is reportedly heading off to New York from her native Georgia for the non invasive procedure as she has failed to achieve results from just dieting or increasing exercise alone.
But due to being under age sister Lauryn 'Pumpkin' Efird - who's her legal guardian - has to sign off on the procedure specifically for people with a BMI of 30 or greater.
Gina Rodriguez told TMZ on Wednesday that the reality star has enlisted Dr Steven Batash to help her go from 275lbs to 150lbs at his New York based Weight Loss Center.
Suture Sculpt is done endoscopically (through the mouth) and a sleeve is created by folding the stomach with sutures, so there are no cuts or scars with patients typically to seeing a 20% loss of their total body weight within 12 months on average.
Alana is worried her weight is genetic and has already seen her mother 'Mama' June Shannon struggle with her weight before opting for a bariatric (aka gastric bypass) surgery in 2016.
But Alana appears to know that the Suture Sculpt is not a 'fix all solution' and she will still need to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle.
"I think that mama thought being skinny would solve all of her problems because she'd be able to do a lot more because she's smaller," Alana shared with E! News in 2018.
"She'll be able to fit into a lot more because she's smaller. She wouldn't get so much hate because she's smaller."
And the teen star, who found fame on reality show Toddler's and Tiara's, will be undergoing the same FDA approved weight-loss procedure as her 20-year-old boyfriend Dralin Carswell who she has dated since April last year.
Alana currently features alongside her famous family on the fifth season of Mama June: Road to Redemption, which concludes this Friday on WE tv.
