Premier League icon Alan Shearer has told Manchester United and Manchester City what they would be getting from Harry Kane, besides goals, if he is purchased this summer.
Kane’s goal scoring record cannot be disputed. Not only is he closing in on becoming England’s all-time scorer but he’s approaching 250 goals for Tottenham.
But Shearer has explained how the Three Lions captain possesses a plethora of other qualities in addition to his ability to find the net. The 28-year-old didn’t manage to increase his 22-goal tally for the season in the 5-1 thrashing of Newcastle on Sunday, but he did bring up a seventh assist and was often seen spreading pinpoint balls during attacking phases.

Both United and City have reportedly marked interest in Kane, who was close to moving to the Etihad last summer. He could still make the transition before the start of next season but the Red Devils may seek to bring him to Old Trafford if Pep Guardiola decides to go for Erling Haaland instead.
Shearer highlighted Kane’s qualities in his analysis of the forward after the Newcastle win to Premier League media . “He’s a fantastic talent,” he said.
“You want him to work hard, which comes naturally to great players anyway - you should never praise anyone for working hard because that should be the norm. But he does.
“Then you add to that the ability he’s got to put the ball in the back of the net. There’s not many better than him.
“Then you look at his touch and his technique, and his ability to turn and play those passes, those crosses that we’ve seen not only in this game but we’ve been witnessing for a long time now. So he’s a very clever footballer.”
Premier League all-time scorer Shearer noted how his ability to come deep and spread the play from the number ten position makes him, and his team, extremely arduous to defend against. He added: “He’s very difficult to mark because he’s so good at going deep.
“The defenders have got a problem. If they go deep into that hole with him, they leave the space for Son (Heung-min) or (Dejan) Kulusevski to run into and that’s what he did so clever today.”
He continued: “It was a really intelligent performance from him. No goals, he’ll be devastated that he hasn’t scored today because he’s a goalscorer, that’s what he wants.
“That’s what his mentality is about. But when you take a step back and analyse the game like we are, he is such an intelligent footballer and so very, very good at what he does.”
Many have tipped Kane to move this summer after making it known in recent years how he longs for a trophy. However, some are now mooting that Daniel Levy may yet still convince him to stay at Spurs given his front-three partnership with Son and Kulusevski under Antonio Conte is now thriving.
