Alan Shearer has delivered an emphatic one-word verdict on whether Nottingham Forest should have had a penalty against Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp’s side booked their place in the semi-finals of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win at the City Ground. Diogo Jota was on target for the Reds in the second-half.
However, in the final minutes of the game, Steve Cooper’s side saw an appeal for a penalty turned away by VAR. Referee Craig Pawson initially waved away the appeals before the incident received a second look.

Ryan Yates latched onto a through ball and after going past the onrushing Alisson Becker, went down inside the area. Forest’s players immediately appealed for a penalty.
But following a VAR review a goal kick was awarded. And reacting to the incident on Twitter, Shearer believes the right call was made.
Football Joe initially tweeted: “Another massive VAR call goes Liverpool’s way. Should this have been a penalty?” with Shearer replying: “No.”
Former Liverpool goalkeeper David James agreed with the decision as well, tweeting: “Correct #VAR #DivingForwards #NOTLIV #EmiratesFACup.” Liverpool will now face Manchester City at Wembley in the semi-finals next month.
