Alan Shearer's 'huge' verdict after Newcastle's win over Brentford

Alan Shearer was left impressed by Newcastle's performance as they made it seven games unbeaten in the Premier League with a win over Brentford.

The result is the fourth win in five games for the Magpies, lifting them out of the relegation zone and up to 14th.

Joelinton and Joe Willock were on target for Eddie Howe's side in West London, two players who have come into their own since the head coach's arrival.

The Magpies remain four points clear of the drop zone and have games in hand on sides around them.

Shearer was full of praise for the travelling Toon Army who have been in fine voice since the completion of the recent takeover.

The Newcastle legend said: "A HUGE 3 points for the Toon. Really impressive performance again from all the team.

"TOON army magnificent again. Safe trip home everyone."

Howe's side are set to face Brighton and Southampton before a difficult test against Thomas Tuchel's Chelsea.

The game against the Gulls and the Saints will prove a good test for Newcastle to show how far they've come under Howe.
