Alan Shearer has heaped praise on Joelinton and Dan Burn for their 'outstanding' performances against Leicester City. The duo scored the two goals that proved decisive in Newcastle reaching their first semi-final since 2004/05.
The Magpies have reached the semi-final for the the first time since 1975/76 - when they were beaten finalists coming up against Manchester City. In truth, Newcastle were dominant from start to finish, but as the game wore on, it looked as though they may rue their missed chances.
Newcastle fan Burn gave the Magpies the lead after the hour mark, with Joelinton adding the second 12 minutes later. Eddie Howe's side continued to press right up until the final whistle and could have easily won by a greater scoreline.
