Alan Shearer has named five Liverpool players in his team of the season and described Trent Alexander-Arnold as a 'dream' and someone who has been 'phenomenal'.
The Reds just missed out on the Premier League title after being piped to the trophy by Manchester City. Jurgen Klopp’s side lost out on the final day of the season.
But despite that disappointment, Liverpool have claimed the League Cup and FA Cup, and have the Champions League final to look forward to. when they face Real Madrid in Paris tonight.

And when selecting his team of the campaign, Newcastle United legend Shearer named Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Van Dijk, Salah and Mane in his side. The Match of the Day pundit also named Klopp as his manager of the season.
Explaining his decision to pick Alisson, Shearer said: “The number of players he’s been one-on-one with, and no-one could get past him. He’s one of the reasons why Liverpool have achieved what they have this season.”
Before he added on Alexander-Arnold: “A forward’s dream. The crosses and the chances he has created have just been phenomenal.”
“It’s no surprise Liverpool struggled without him last season,” Shearer then said on Van Dijk. “He’s been a tower defensively again for them.”
Shearer then continued on Salah, saying: “No surprise that I’m going to pick [Salah]. He’s been superb. His goals again have often carried Liverpool at times.”
Before he concluded on Mane: “The year he’s had, internationally and for his club, he’s been absolutely phenomenal. He’s one of the reasons why Liverpool have been fighting on all fronts.”
