Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer says he would be playing up front alongside Harry Kane in the current England team if he was in his 'prime'.
Shearer scored 30 goals in 63 caps for the Three Lions and represented his nation in three major international tournaments, including one World Cup finals.
Kane moved to within one-goal of England's all-time top goal scorer Wayne Rooney with his 52nd international goal in Sunday's 3-0 win over Senegal.
Although Kane is very much the focal point of the current generation, Shearer believes he could form an attacking partnership with the Tottenham Hotspur forward under Gareth Southgate.

"Absolutely yeah," Shearer revealed to BBC Sport. "Of course he [Shearer] would [play for the current England team]. So long as Kane passed to me every now and again.
"Yeah we would [play up front together]. It might not be very friendly with me and him because we'd be taking up a similar position but we could work together. Absolutely!"
But any chance of a miraculous comeback seems unlikely, as Shearer joked that his best days are beyond him.
"Not now. Have you seen my knees?," he added.
Although Kane is on the verge of becoming England's record goal scorer, there is one record that he is still some way from breaking.
Kane has climbed into third-place in the Premier League all-time top goal scorer charts, but is still 65 goals behind the ex-Newcastle striker Shearer's imperious record of 260 goals.
