Alan Shearer makes Wilfried Zaha claim after penalty miss in Palace's loss at Nottingham Forest

Alan Shearer has suggested Crystal Palace could change penalty taker after Wilfried Zaha's miss from the spot against Nottingham Forest.

Zaha missed a penalty as Palace lost out 1-0 against Steve Cooper's men at the City Ground on Saturday, with the Ivory Coast international hitting the post after being fouled by Joe Worrall in the 41st minute of the game.

It proved to be a crucial moment in the game as Morgan Gibbs-White went on to score the winner in the second half, giving Forest a priceless three points to move up to 18th in the Premier League table.

Zaha's miss was the fourth time he has failed to score from the penalty spot in the Premier League, having previously missed spot kicks against Norwich City, Leicester City and Aston Villa earlier in 2022.

He has scored seven times from the penalty spot for Palace, but he has now missed from 12 yards on the two occasions he has taken a spot kick this season, with three of his last four penalties being unsuccessful.

And Shearer thinks that Palace manager Patrick Vieira may now look to reconsider who takes the penalties for the Eagles for future games. Speaking on BBC programme Match of the Day, he said: "He [Zaha] has missed three of his last four, including both of his last two, so I would suggest that would be him off of the penalties now."

Zaha has stepped up to take more penalties in recent seasons for Palace, with midfielder Luka Milivojevic in and out of the side, having previously been the club's regular penalty taker.
