Alan Shearer believes Mohamed Salah signing a new contract with Liverpool is a 'frightening' proposition for opponents.
Salah signed a new long-term contract with Liverpool back in July following months of uncertainty around his future. The forward’s deal had been set to expire in the summer of 2023, however, he has now agreed fresh three-year terms to commit his future to the club until 2025.
The ECHO understands that the 30-year-old will indeed earn less than £400k a week, with his new deal heavily incentivised so he could earn more based on player performance. Salah has scored 156 goals in 254 appearances since joining Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017.

Salah was on target for Liverpool in their 3-1 Community Shield win over Manchester City at the King Power last Saturday. And ahead of Liverpool’s opening game of the season against Fulham tomorrow, Shearer has praised the Anfield club for the 'absolutely huge' achievement in tying Salah down to a new contract.
“Liverpool also have a new-look forward line with Sadio Mane leaving and Darwin Nunez joining from Benfica,” he wrote in his BBC Sport column.
“But I don’t think their attack will be any less potent than last season. A big reason for that is Mohamed Salah signing a new contract, which is absolutely huge for them and will be a big weight off his mind too.
“We might even see Salah playing better now, which is a frightening prospect for Premier League defences. But I still think City will have the edge come the end of the season.”
