Both Alan Shearer and Garth Crooks agree that Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson will be key to the Reds staying in the Premier League this season.
The academy graduate scored both goals in Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Everton at the City Ground. On both occasions, the goals saw Steve Cooper ’s men come from behind in the game to earn what could be a valuable point at the end of the season.
The goals against the Toffees were Johnson’s sixth and seventh in his first season in the Premier League. He will be hoping to add to that tally when Forest take on Tottenham at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday.

Following the game against Everton, former striker Shearer named the 21-year-old in his Premier League team of the week. The record goalscorer said: "Scoring another two goals, he is Forest’s big hope for staying in the Premier League."
It wasn’t just Shearer’s team of the week that Johnson was included in. The Forest man was also named in BBC pundit Garth Crooks’ team, with the pundit going back on a previous statement he made about Johnson.
“The last time Johnson made my team selection he also scored two goals and gained valuable points for Nottingham Forest. This time it was against an Everton side also in desperate need of points,” he wrote in his BBC column .
“When he first made my team I said he was a very willing player who had previously struggled in front of goal. Well, three months have passed since then and the way he took his second of the game against Everton, he doesn't seem to be struggling in front of goal any more.
“This is a young man who has clearly worked at his craft and who, along with Morgan Gibbs-White, is taking Forest into a much safer place than when they arrived.”
