Alan Shearer's previous praise for Callum Hudson-Odoi suggest the Chelsea outcast could be a good fit for Newcastle United this summer. The Magpies are understood to be one of several clubs both domestic and abroad to have confirmed their interest in the Blues winger.
Hudson-Odoi is keen for guarantees of first-team football at his next destination, with the winger now in the final two years of his contract at Stamford Bridge. Borussia Dortmund were strongly linked with the 21-year-old earlier this summer, but Thomas Tuchel was keen to cast his eye over the academy graduate in pre-season before making his decision.
Howe has so far been frustrated in his efforts to land attacking recruits this window, and has previously hinted he was open to a loan move from a Premier League rival. Chelsea are keen for the winger to go out on a season-long loan, and Newcastle are in the market for a right-sided forward to bolster their frontline options.

Hudson-Odoi has previously made an impact against the Magpies, teeing-up Marcos Alonso for the only goal of the game for Chelsea' home victory in October 2019. The winger's performance was subject to praise from United legend Shearer in his Match of the Day analysis.
Newcastle's record goalscorer said: "He has played three times this season and he has three assists. He had such a terrible injury which he's come back from. He's 18 years of age and can spray the ball around like that, left or right, and he is full of confidence.
"He can go on the outside and come on the inside. Everything Chelsea did well he was at the heart of it. He did his bit defensively which he had to do and he was hugging the touchline, and with that drive that he's got he makes it very difficult for defenders.
"For the goal he sets it up for Alonso, puts it into his path and says 'go on, have a go' and that was the winning goal. Chelsea were the better team and deserved to score. What a week it has been for him. Two for the under-21s as well. He is a talent.”
Hudson-Odoi made 28 appearances for the Blues last season, but the last of these came in an FA Cup clash with Luton Town on March 2. The winger struggled with a tweaked nerve in his back for the remainder of the campaign, and is yet to feature for Thomas Tuchel's side this term.
Shearer's praise for Hudson-Odoi's defensive and attacking capabilities during his breakout campaign suggests the transfer target would be a good fit on Tyneside. Howe is looking to improve his side's threat in the final third without sacrificing the Magpies' newfound stability in defence.
