Alan Shearer has called VAR's decision to award Liverpool a penalty after an alleged foul on Diogo Jota a "joke."
The Portuguese forward went down under the challenge of Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vicente Guiata, with referee Kevin Friend originally awarding a goal-kick.
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was in agreement with Shearer, claiming the on field decision from referee was the right call.

Shearer said the decision was "never a penalty," with VAR coming under further scrutiny.
Any Newcastle fans watching the game, can feel aggrieved, casting their mind back to Manchester City's visit to St James' Park.
Ryan Fraser was scythed down under the challenge of City goalkeeper Ederson, with Joao Cancelo coming away with the ball.
In what was a stonewall penalty, VAR chose not to award a spot-kick.
The Scotland international was in pursuit of the ball and would have put Cancelo under considerable pressure.
In comparison, Jota had seemingly overrun the ball when colliding with Guiata, but the decision to award a penalty has caused further controversy.
