Alan Shearer's view of his infamous clash with Roy Keane in 2001 is that the Corkman 'ran away' after the match while Shearer hung around to have a physical confrontation away from the cameras.
Now funnily enough, Keane has always claimed it was the other way round and that it was he who waited in the tunnel after getting sent off to get reacquainted with the former England captain.
But while previewing Saturday's FA Cup final - which Liverpool eventually won on penalties - Shearer recalled: "Roy didn't like me for some reason, I don't know why. He was getting beaten that day, that's why.
"We were winning the game and there was only a minute left.
"I was waiting for him in the tunnel - he ran away! They held us back in the tunnel."
Naturally both men, who are regarded as two of the biggest alpha-males in Premier League history, are going to make out that it was the other one who backed down.
It's hard to know conclusively what happened in the aftermath of the Toon's 4-3 victory but Craig Bellamy's account would seem to have more credibility than what either men wrote in their respective autobiographies.
In his own book, Shearer's strike partner that day wrote: “I was watching when Alan and Roy Keane clashed – the ball went out for a throw-in and Keane, who was wound up reacted to something Alan said and threw the ball at him,.
“It hit him on the back of the head and Alan complained to the referee. The referee sent Keane off and Keane went absolutely nuts. He looked like he wanted to rip Alan’s head off. It took about five of the United players to restrain him. I adored Keane.
“He was one of the best players I ever played against. I idolised him in fact, but I wouldn’t have wanted to go up against him in those circumstances.
“I saw him waiting for Alan in the tunnel at the end of the game and Alan didn’t seem to be hurrying off the pitch! He was one of the last to come off actually, which we all made sure we remarked on when he finally made it back to the dressing room.
“Keane had to be dragged into the United dressing room by then.”
