Alan Kelly is expected to stand down as leader of the Labour Party, the Irish Mirror understands.
Mr Kelly is expected to hold a press conference at 7pm at Leinster House.
It's understood there has been tension within the Labour Party for some time over Mr Kelly's leadership.
A source said: "He has lost the collective support of the parliamentary party."
Another source said Mr Kelly is to give a statement in which he will stand down as Labour leader on Wednesday evening.
Labour Party sources have told the Irish Mirror that they believe new TD Ivana Bacik is the frontrunner to replace Mr Kelly as leader of the party.
However, there has been no discussion officially within the party about replacing Mr Kelly.
It's understood there have been leadership heave within the party for some time now and tensions increased at a parliamentary party meeting last week, when Mr Kelly faced severe criticism over the party's position in opinion polls.
Mr Kelly took over as Labour leader from Brendan Howlin in April 2020.
