FORMER first minister Nicola Sturgeon and Alan Cumming enjoyed a night out in Edinburgh after appearing at a book event together.
Sturgeon hosted an in-conversation event with Scottish crime writer Val McDermid on Sunday night, where the pair were joined by Cumming and Paula Hawkins – author of the bestselling book The Girl on the Train.
Following the event, Cumming took to Instagram to share some images as the four enjoyed a night in the capital at the Paradise Palms pub.
Cumming shared one video of a woman meeting Sturgeon, who said she was “as excited as I was when I saw The Beatles in Edinburgh in 1963”.
The actor said in his Instagram caption: “Knowing me, knowing @nicolasturgeon, a ha!
“Such fun last night in Edinburgh talking books with Nicola, @quineofcrime (McDermid) and @paulahawkins201 at the Assembly Hall, and then on we went to @edinburghpalms for more japes.”
Sturgeon also shared some images of the event and thanked everybody who had attended.
She said: “Heartfelt thanks to everyone who joined @quineofcrime and me last night for our in the Company of Books show.
