Alan Carr is set to follow in the footsteps of one of his crime-writing heroines as part of a new travel series on Channel 4.
The Chatty Man talk show host will swap the studio for trips around the UK in the three-part series as he delves into the mind of Agatha Christie.
Alan Carr's Adventures With Agatha Christie will see the self-confessed serial fan uncover her world of murder and murder by visiting the coast, countryside and quaint villages across the country.
Speaking about the show, which will be on More4, Alan told The Sun : "I genuinely can’t wait to film this series.
"Whether it’s this year’s star-studded Hollywood remake of Death On The Nile or reruns of David Suchet’s Poirot on a lazy Sunday afternoon, I just can’t help getting drawn into Agatha Christie’s world.
"I still get just as excited as when I picked up The Murder At The Vicarage in a second-hand bookshop on a caravanning holiday in Devon all those years ago."
Alan has often spoke about preferring to pick up one of Agatha Christie's murder mysteries rather than playing sport when he was growing up, despite his father being a professional football manager.
The stand-up comedian is also testing the waters across the pond as he tries to crack America.
With his popularity growing in the United States following his appearances on RuPaul's Drag Race UK and UK vs the World series, he has scheduled a few gigs of stand-up.
This comes after split with husband Paul Drayton in January following 13 years together and he has admitted he is wary about taking his comedy Stateside. He is currently on tour with his show Regional Trinket.
Speaking about the prospect, Alan said: “I’ve done a bit of Europe, I’m going back to Australia and New Zealand – I love it – and I’ve done Canada.
“And, this is an exclusive, I’m going to do some very tiny, tiny dates in America. I’m scared. Should I be scared?”
