Alan Carr has revealed he is losing his sight and needs to get a “worrying” hospital procedure.

The comedian, who has astigmatism, explained that his eyeballs need draining due to excessive pressure.

The 48-year-old Chatty Man host had to undergo a treatment that involved a spike being inserted into his anesthetised eye.

“Losing my sight is my worst thing, and I can feel it getting worse. My eyeballs need draining - they've got too much pressure,” he said on his Life's A Beach podcast.

“I've got astigmatism. I kept telling people I had stigmata, like the wounds of Christ. Get over yourself, Alan.

“I had a bit of a health scare. I went to Moorfields [eye hospital]. I've got something wrong with my eyes - quite a bit of pressure.”

The Interior Design Masters host recalled his shock when doctors told him to “relax” while a spike was brought closer to his cornea.

“They said, 'Just relax, Alan, concentrate on the spike going into your eye.' I thought, 'Excuse me? What?!' It was surreal,” Carr said.

“I hate the glaucoma thing, when they squirt the air in your eyes. I had something wrong with my eyes in the cornea. I was so worried.'

He added: “He had to basically choke me because this air going into my eye was too much. At Moorfields they anesthetised my eyeball, and then the spike came in on to the lens to see if it worked.”

Astigmatism occurs when the eye isn’t round like a football but more like a rugby ball shape, which can lead to blurred vision.

It can be detected during a routine eye test and can be corrected with glasses, contact lenses or surgery.

Carr’s health scare comes after he revealed he was fat-shamed by a personal trainer at his gym.

The Amanda & Alan’s Italian Job presenter said a fitness specialist referred to him as “fatty” during the “triggering” incident.

“I went to quite a famous one and I didn’t like the way she talked to me,” he recalled on his Life’s A Beach podcast.

Carr went on to explain that he believes the trainer had got a warning over her after she told him “Come on, fatty!”

The TV presenter said that the next time he visited the gym she had changed her tone and told him: “Oh, you know, Alan, have a breather if you want.”

However, it appeared as though the damage was done as he admitted: “It was triggering. It was like I was back in the playground. People don’t believe I have a personal trainer because I’m fat.”
