Alan Carr gives fans update after collapsing on stage and admits ‘I’ve never known pain like it’

Comedian Alan Carr has given fans an update on his health after collapsing in front of an audience when he experienced “shooting pains”.

The 46-year-old was performing at Glasgow’s King’s Theatre on the latest stop of his Regional Trinket tour when the incident occurred. Alan shared a photo to his Instagram Stories after the show with a bag of frozen peas pressed to his calf, and later confirmed that a “tear” in his leg was the reason for the collapse.

Alan took to Instagram to reassure fans following the incident. “I’ve been performing up in Glasgow, and there’s a bit in my routine where I pretend to be Jason Statham, and I high-kicked - and then I got the worst cramp ever,” he explained in a video posted to his one million followers.

“Oh my god, it was shooting pains, and I was rolling around on the floor - and people thought it was part of the act,” the star laughed. He added that he was able to finish the show after his tour manager provided a crutch to help him stand.

The comedian gave an update on his leg injury, saying that he was “healed now” after taking ibuprofen. “I think I’ve torn it, but hopefully I’ll have a bit of rest,” he continued in the video.

“I just felt silly rolling around on the floor,” Alan admitted. “I’ve never known pain like it. But anyway, I will soldier on as I always do.”

Famous friends of the star were quick to send their messages of support on Instagram, with comedian John Bishop commenting: “What a trooper - you are an example to us all.”

Vanessa Feltz joined fans in sharing concern for Alan. “Worried about you. Should you be checked out by a GP or at A&E just to be sure?” she asked.

“Oh bless you,” added actress Martine McCutcheon. “What a trooper! Rest up and take care of yourself though please!”
