Smirking Alan Brazil attempted to link Celtic with rising Wrexham - before Rangers fan favourite Ally McCoist quickly shut him down.
The Welsh minnows have been on a rapid rise since actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the club in November 2020, with their journey into 'soccer' team ownership charted in the Disney+ series 'Welcome to Wrexham'. Amid the glitzy coverage and celebrity interest, the team have performed on the park and boss Phil Parkinson is just one win away from claiming the English Conference title and leading the club back to the Football League.
And Celtic diehard Brazil was quick to try and link Ange Postecoglou's side to the club as he talked up a "big association" between Wrexham and the Scottish Premiership leaders. Brazil talked up the exploits of the Welsh side on talkSPORT, starting: "Wrexham need just a win from their final two games to secure promotion...by the way this is a great story isn't it? When the two Hollywood guys got involved I thought no, but no.
"Ally, I read somewhere that Wrexham have a big association with Celtic, believe it or not. I'm not just making it up..."
However, the Rangers hero refused to take the bait as Brazil attempted to join the dots between The Racecourse and Celtic Park. McCoist cut in: 'Och away and talk a lot of nonsense. You are unbelievable. Did half of the Wrexham fans go to your school or what?"
An undeterred Brazil went on: "I'm serious. They were in Seville as well, I am telling you."
