An Alabama couple welcomed their baby boy at a Krispy Kreme parking lot during a rare winter snowstorm, earning them free donuts for a year and a promise of annual birthday celebrations at the donut shop.
On January 22, 2025, a powerful snowstorm blanketed parts of southern Alabama with nearly half a foot of snow, a rare occurrence for the region. Amid treacherous road conditions, Sha'nya Bennett began experiencing frequent contractions, WTVY reported.
She and her partner, Keon Mitchell, set out for Flowers Hospital, just a mile away, but the icy roads forced them to pull into the parking lot of a closed Krispy Kreme store.
With 911 on the line and paramedics en route, Sha'nya gave birth to baby Dallas in their car, with Keon assisting in the delivery. Despite their fear, the couple stayed calm under pressure, with Keon even joking afterward that he felt like he could be a doctor.
The baby was delivered safely before emergency responders arrived, making the Krispy Kreme location an unforgettable place of birth.
Krispy Kreme, upon learning of the event, gifted the family free donuts for a year and offered to host Dallas' first birthday party in 2026.
Later, the company sweetened the deal, promising to throw annual birthday celebrations for Dallas until he reaches adulthood. Dallas' birth certificate is even believed to list Krispy Kreme as his official place of birth.
