Alabama Man Wanted For Homicides Apprehended In Arkansas

Arkansas State Police searching for Stacy Lee Drake

An Alabama man wanted in connection with homicides in Oklahoma was apprehended Thursday in Arkansas after a search that spanned multiple southern states, Arkansas State Police confirmed. Stacy Lee Drake, 50, was taken into custody around 10 a.m. in a wooded area in Morrilton, Arkansas, without incident.

Drake is wanted in connection with homicides and carjackings in Oklahoma, according to Arkansas State Police. He is also sought on other felony warrants from various jurisdictions, including charges of aggravated robbery, carjacking, and murder.

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation reported that a man and a woman were found dead inside a business near Gans, Oklahoma, a town near the Arkansas state line. Both victims had injuries consistent with homicide, and Drake is considered a person of interest in the killings.

Initially, Arkansas authorities indicated that Drake was wanted in three Oklahoma homicides, but the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation clarified that he has only been linked to the two deaths in the Gans area. The investigation is ongoing to determine any additional involvement Drake may have had in other incidents.

The bodies of the victims have been sent to the state medical examiner for identification and to establish the causes of death, as stated by the OSBI. Drake's last known address was in Birmingham, Alabama. He is currently being held at the Conway County Detention Center in Arkansas.
