An Alabama man whose prison sentence was commuted by Joe Biden in January is back behind bars after being arrested on multiple drug and firearms charges.
Willie Frank Peterson, 52, was convicted in 2023 of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and sentenced to 75 months in federal prison, WTVY reported.
However, in one of his final acts in office, Biden commuted Peterson's sentence on January 17, as part of a broader clemency effort that shortened the prison terms of nearly 2,500 nonviolent drug offenders. Peterson was released the following week.
Less than two months after his release, Peterson was arrested in Dothan, Alabama, on multiple charges, including possession of cocaine, hydrocodone, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and firearms.
Peterson was taken into custody at his home, where police reportedly found illegal substances and weapons. Peterson has since posted bond, and his new charges will be handled in Houston County court.
