Alabama lineman Tyler Booker will never forget when former ESPN college football analyst David Pollack sat next to coach Nick Saban last year and said that Georgia had “taken ahold of college football.”
Booker, along with other Alabama players, took this comment personally. The Crimson Tide were able to prove Pollack and other doubters wrong on Saturday as they captured the 2023 SEC title over Georgia in a 27–24 win.
“That really sat with me because I came to Alabama for the standard,” Booker told USA Today’s Blake Toppmeyer. “I came to Alabama to further the dynasty. To hear somebody challenge my coach to his face like that? I take that personally. I feel like everybody who saw it did, and then we responded to that.”
Here’s the clip from last year’s national championship game that inspired Booker and other members of the Alabama team.

Pollack hasn’t responded to Booker’s comments yet, although the former Georgia player was active on X, formerly known as Twitter, throughout the SEC championship on Saturday.
