The Vanderbilt Commodores defeated the Alabama Crimson Tide 40-35 in one of the biggest upsets in college football history. Alabama fans have been spoiled throughout the Nick Saban era. They routinely won big games and national championships and rarely suffered upsets.
The tides are changing for Alabama in the Kalen DeBoer era. The Crimson Tide were home underdogs for the first time since 2007 against the Georgia Bulldogs. Alabama prevailed against Georgia, but fell in a trap game against Vanderbilt the following week.
Several Alabama fans called into “The “Paul Finebaum Show” on ESPN after the Crimson Tide’s loss to Vanderbilt. Many Alabama fans responded with outrage in the aftermath of what was once inconceivable: a loss to Vanderbilt.
Alabama fans exhibit the passion of SEC football fans. However, there is not a fan base more used to success than the Crimson Tide, so when things fell apart against Vanderbilt it came as an absolute shock.
