According to Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal, Al-Shifa Hospital is currently besieged by Israeli forces, making it impossible for rescue workers to reach the area and assist victims. Basal also mentioned that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have been targeting homes near the hospital, further complicating the situation.
Basal reported that there are still people trapped under the rubble of residential buildings that were hit by Israeli airstrikes. Despite receiving calls from individuals claiming to be alive under the debris, rescue efforts are hindered by the presence of snipers in the vicinity of Al-Shifa Hospital.
Basal highlighted the urgent need for assistance in the area, stating that appeals for help have come from the beach area to the west of the hospital, where casualties have been reported on the roads.
