The Magpies named a strong line-up in front of watching dignitaries as well as Her Majesty’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Neil Compton.
Newcastle asked for the game to be played 35 minutes each way with temperatures still at 22 degrees and Eddie Howe's side going into the match on the back of a hard week of training.

Newcastle took a ninth minute lead through Allan Saint-Maximin and the Magpies held on to their advantage until two minutes before the interval.
Abderrazak Hamdallah, the Morocco international, levelled the game before the break.
Newcastle, who were skippered by Kieran Trippier, made changes at half-time with Jonjo Shelvey and Jamaal Lascelles among the subs to make an appearance.
Romarinho hit the woodwork for the home team after keeper Karl Darlow survived a narrow escape.
On 57 minutes Jeff Hendrick slipped in Joe Willock down the right and after his cross Ryan Fraser buried a shot at the back post to make it 2-1.
And that's how it stayed although the game did finish as a 10-a-side affair after Ciaran Clark and Hamdallah were sent off for what Newcastle described as a "somewhat harsh" dismissal for "tangling".
