In the latest update from the LPGA's Thailand tournament at Siam Country Club's Pattaya Old Course, Akie Iwai of Japan has surged into the lead after an impressive performance in the second round. Iwai, who received a sponsor invite, showcased her skills by carding a 5-under 67 on Friday, bringing her two-round total to a remarkable 13-under 129.

The 22-year-old Iwai, who secured her LPGA tour membership by finishing tied for fifth at the LPGA Final Qualifier last year, expressed her satisfaction with her performance, attributing her success to solid putting and excellent distance control. Her stellar play resulted in numerous birdies, solidifying her position at the top of the leaderboard.

American Angel Yin also delivered a strong performance, shooting a 64 on Friday to claim the second spot behind Iwai. Meanwhile, Jeeno Thitikul, the world No. 2 golfer who celebrated her 22nd birthday recently, put up an impressive performance as well, finishing tied for third place after carding a 64.
