Akhilesh Yadav hits back at Anurag Thakur caste remarks, says ‘CM house was cleaned with Gangajal…’

SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav targets Anurag Thakur

New Delhi: Continuing his attack on the BJP, after Anurag Thakur's caste remarks on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday said that he would never forget the day when CM's house (in UP) was cleaned with Gangajal.

"I will never forget the day when CM's house (in Uttar Pradesh) was cleaned with Gangajal. How can a CM house be cleaned with Gangajal, now you want to go to the moon, talk about Digital India, Amritkal, Viksit Bharat and yet you wash the temples with Ganagjal." Akhilesh Yadav said.

"Once I went to a temple where some didn't want me to perform havan and puja, In Kannauj, I visited the same temple that I visited for the first time before winning my first election. The temple was washed afterwards with Gangajal." He added.

Repeating the question asked by the SP leader in the Lower House on Tuesday, he said, "Can BJP ask the caste of any Congress leader or any other person."

India Alliance has launched a united attack on Anurag Thakur as DMK MP Kanimozhi said, "It is unfortunate that a senior leader, who has also been a minister, thinks that caste is important of any human being, leave alone the LoP.

"This is the example they are going to set for the youth of this country. I am worried about the future of the young people of this country. It is even more saddening that the PM has retweeted that speech and said that everyone should listen to that speech. Is this what they are trying to tell the nation that caste is important?" Kanimozhi added.

Anurag Thakur on Tuesday entered into a heated argument with Rahul Gandhi during his speech in the Lower House of the parliament, saying that those whose caste is not known are asking for the caste census.

"He (Rahul Gandhi) talks about OBC, he talks about the census, whose caste is not known are asking for the caste census."
