The Eagles put together one of the best seasons in the franchise’s history this season and after coming up short of a Super Bowl win, they’re tasked with trying to keep the band together. There are several question marks going into the offseason for Philadelphia, but the priority for the team should be signing quarterback Jalen Hurts to a long-term extension, according to one of his teammates.
All-Pro wide receiver AJ Brown made it clear to Philadelphia leadership—specifically general manager Howie Roseman—that the team needs to re-sign Hurts or else.
“If you do not pay this man, just ship me off wherever he finna go,” Brown said on the Raw Room podcast. “So you talk about pressure? Howie, get it done.”
There’s no doubt Hurts will command some serious cash after the season he just had, and Brown knows it. The 24-year-old was an MVP candidate and had a 14–1 quarterback record in 2022. He finished the year with 3,701 passing yards, 760 rushing yards and 35 total touchdowns.
His success through the air was due in no small part to Brown, who racked up 88 catches for 1,496 yards and 11 scores. Simply put, the Eagles can’t afford to lose either star player and Brown wants to see his quarterback get paid.
