Aissa Laidouni to Celtic transfer door opened as Ferencvaros chief prepares for post World Cup bidding war

Ferencvaros president Gabor Kubatov admits the club are "open" to selling Aissa Laidouni as they look to capitalise on the Tunisia star's impressive World Cup showing.

Reports in France suggest that Celtic are among a number of clubs that had the midfielder on their radar during the tournament in Qatar, with Ange Postecoglou weighing up additions to his midfield during the January transfer window. Laidouni was impressive in the Middle East despite Tunisia going out in the group stage playing a key part in the impressive 1-0 win over France in their last Group D fixture, before Les Bleus went on to reach the World Cup final.

Wolfsburg have also been credited with an interest in Laidouni and the Hungarian side appear unlikely to stand in his way should the right offer come in for the 26-year-old. Kubatov was asked by Nemzeti Sport if any bids had been submitted by the Scottish Premiership champions or the Bundesliga side amid the reported interest.

The chief responded: "Many people are interested. We haven’t received a specific offer yet. But I’m sure it will come.

"He played at a very high level at the World Cup. And, if we receive an offer that is worth considering, we are open to negotiations.

"We have to find the right balance too. If we can sell someone for good money, we can get more benefits from that. On the one hand, we can use the income to bring in new football players."
