One of the country's busiest airports is looking to recruit an extra 400 staff ahead of an expected surge in overseas travel. The vacancies are available at Luton Airport as passengers numbers begin to bounce back after pandemic travel restrictions.
Posts available include various retail and hospitality roles, aviation security officers, fire fighters, car park and passenger transport roles. There are also jobs with the Direct Air-Rail Transit (DART) system, which will link the airport terminal with Luton airport Parkway railway station.
Chief executive Alberto Martin said: “We are confident that demand for air travel is returning given the busy half term period, and will only increase further with the relaxation of the final travel restrictions at the end of this week. “Though reaching our pre-pandemic figures will be tough, flying to the UK is now as easy as it was before, removing a key barrier to booking for many passengers.
“Hiring key staff will be essential to accommodate this anticipated uplift, and we look forward to recruiting ahead of what we know will be a busy summer season.”
However, it also posted a warning about scam job adverts with some online posts asking applicants for cash to apply for for security roles. The airport said: "We’ve recently been made aware of some fraudulent online recruitment advertisements for Airport Security Officer positions. Please ignore them. All of LLA’s Security recruitment opportunities are posted here, on our official website, and we’ll never charge applicants for pre-employment checks."
Here are some of the jobs available and how to apply.
Luton is the latest UK airport planning a recruitment drive ahead of an anticipated summer travel boom. Birmingham, Manchester, Heathrow and Gatwick airports have already announced hundreds of new jobs.
