Airline launches fancy new business class seats - but they don't recline

Flying in business class comes with heaps of perks for those who can afford luxury holidays; extra leg room, nicer food, bigger bag allowances and -usually - seats that recline so you can lie back and even get some kip on longer flights.

However, one airline has just unveiled its brand new business class cabin - and passengers' seats won't recline.

Finnair unveiled its new business class earlier this month, and although you'd be forgiven for thinking that those paying extra would want a reclining seat, the airline's alternative could actually offer up heaps more comfort.

That's because the spacious pod-like seats allow passengers to switch positions throughout long-haul flights, whether they want to sit upright, lie back and lounge with their legs outstretched, or even lie down so they can get some proper sleep.

Oh, and of course there are heaps of the perks you'd expect with a luxury ticket such as duvets, pillows and access to some of the airline's gourmet new meals.

The cabins have dividers so there's no need to awkwardly make small talk with your neighbours - but if you're travelling with others, the dividers can be removed.

The seats have been designed with Collins Aerospace with the aim of "maximising customer space and the freedom to move".

The new cabin comes as part of a wider €200million investment from Finnair, alongside a new premium economy cabin and a refresh of its existing economy seats. The new cabins will be fitted across all of the airline's Airbus A350 and A330 long-haul aircraft across the next two years.

The move comes as the airline looks to increase its long-haul offerings with new routes to Japan and the USA.

Of course for the majority of us a business class flight isn't exactly a standard way of travelling. However, just because you're not flying in business or first class doesn't mean you can't have a comfortable flight.

For a start there are plenty of easy flight hacks such as packing essentials and jet lag tips to make the journey that little bit smoother. Oh, and it's always worth asking for some in-flight extras to make your journey that little bit easier - such as a spare pillow or even First Class perks - without needing to fork out cash.

Travelling with kids? Cabin crew members have shared their top tips for flying with children from ways to stop their ears from hurting, to keeping them entertained and even some pre-flight prep you can do to avoid possible tantrums.

Do you think the seats will be more comfortable than those that recline? Let us know in the comments below.
