Airdrieonians player-boss Rhys McCabe has revealed he hopes to have influential midfielder Adam Frizzell back in contention soon after a knee injury that has kept him out for the past seven weeks.
The club teased the winger's comeback from injury, which he sustained in Octrober early on in their 4-2 defeat Montrose, earlier in the week with a short video on social media, showing the Diamonds hero back on the pitch doing some light jogging.
Airdrie could have done with his creativity yesterday as the managed to grind out a narrow 1-0 win at home to Kelty, making it four games unbeaten in League One.
And after that victory, McCabe was pleased to deliver some positive news on the former Kilmarnock man's rpgress.
He said: "Frizz came back and got an injection from the specialist, so he is all systems go to step up his rehab now.
"He's got a process now of resting until he can really get training, hopefully next week.
"He will be in on Tuesday to do his rehab stuff and working with the physio to really step things up.
"If things all go well, we get him in training next week and hopefully get him in the squad soon."
Pushed on when fans could see him back in the Diamonds, McCabe added: "It will all depend on how he reacts.
"In terms of being back to do running, he'll be stepping that up next week.
"It will be too soon, after 6-8 weeks being out, to throw him in at the deep end but we'll need to test his intensity and how he reacts to changing direction and different kinds of training sessions.
"That will be the next stage for him and, should he come through that okay, then he'll be be back into full training."
