Callum Smith says Airdrie are definitely still in the League One title race, but knows the Diamonds face a real test when third-placed Montrose come calling on Saturday.
Smith netted his seventh Airdrie goal this season to take a point from leaders Cove Rangers on Saturday, and reckons that was a vital result to keep the gap between the sides at seven points.
But with Montrose just a point behind in third, he knows there's a lot of hard work ahead.
The 22-year-old said: "We wanted to go up there and win, but when you look at it it's actually a good draw.
"If they had won that they would have been 10 points clear; seven points is still a good bit of catching for us to do, but we've still got to play them at our place, so I think we're definitely still in the race.
"It's a really big game for us on Saturday, we know how good Montrose are, they've been very consistent this season and they're only a point behind us.
"We know it's going to be a hard game but we feel we've got it in us to go and win, especially at home, and we're really looking forward to it."
Smith, who started the season at Hamilton Accies, added: "We've been pretty consistent. It's a very strong squad we've got this season and we're all confident, every week, every game we go into, and the record speaks for itself.
"We've been really good, it's a good group of boys, and we're always looking forward to the next game.
"I think it's an achievement that we're in this title race. There are a few really big clubs in the league, so to be up there in second place is probably good for us.
"We want to be in first place, but second place right now is looking pretty decent, because it's a very strong league."
