League One promotion hopefuls Airdrieonians have made their fourth January signing with the arrival of young winger Lewis McGregor.
The 18-year-old left Championship side Greenock Morton by mutual consent last week after making 19 appearances for the Cappielow side this season.
And Diamonds boss Rhys McCabe has swooped to bolster his squad further, following the signing of midfielder Ben Stanway from Partick Thistle, 18-year-old ex-Middlesbrough frontman Joe Dixon and 17-year-old striker Bright Osemudiamen Prince Okosum, or Bright Prince for short, who has joined from the Airdrie academy setup.
McCabe said: “Lewis comes from Morton with a good pedigree.
"He’s what we look for in the wider areas - he’s raw, he’s got quick movements and blistering pace, so he gives us a different dimension in terms of speed.
“He’s a good age too, with loads of room to improve and grow. We’re delighted to get him in.”
New boy Lewis told the club website: “All the boys are brand new, they welcomed me into the squad, which is always good!
“I’m just getting into the game - just trying to make a name for myself. Hopefully I can come here and kick on.”
McGregor could make his debut on Saturday when the Diamonds travel to Kelty Hearts.
Meanwhile, the club have released two players this week and recalled one from their loan deal.
Goalkeepers Dean Lyness, formerly of St Mirren and who made 11 appearances after signing short-term deal in October, and 18-year-old Alex Henderson have moved on, while striker Salim Kouider-Aissa returns after a spell at League Two Stranraer.
A statement issued by the club read: "Following a loan spell at Stranraer, we are delighted to welcome Salim Kouider-Aïssa back to the playing squad. Salim had continued to train with the club and remained a big part of things during his time at Stair Park, and his return is welcomed by everyone at Airdrieonians.
"Dean Lyness has moved on following the conclusion of his contract, and Alex Henderson has joined Glentoran back in Northern Ireland.
"Alex was keen to explore the possibility of a move back home after the NIFL Premiership side expressed an interest, and he joins Dean in leaving Airdrie with our thanks and best wishes for the future."
