Airbnb owner stumped by confused guest who couldn't open fridge or use oven

Staying in a new place can often leave you feeling confused, especially if you're staying by yourself in a hotel room or holiday let and you're not sure how all the appliances work.

But one Airbnb owner was left baffled by a guest that was staying at their rental property, as it seemed as though they were unable to operate the most basic of household appliances - including the fridge.

The property owner, named Michelle, said in a viral video that she received numerous texts from the young woman who was staying in her rental, as she kept asking for help and even asked how to turn the gas on for the oven, which was actually electric and didn't need gas at all.

Michelle, from Ontario, Canada, uploaded the amusing message exchanges to TikTok under the username @theflowertruck, where she captioned the video: "I just need to know if my Air B&B guest is OK."

Texts included in the clip - which has been viewed over 4 million times - saw the guest ask if she was allowed to use the fridge because it was "locked" and wouldn't open before Michelle told her to try opening it from the other side.

"Ok yes sorry," replied the guest, which was followed later by: "Hey the gas isn't turning on. It turns on for two seconds and then goes back off. How can I fix this?"

Baffled, Michelle responded: "What do you mean by gas?"

Her guest explained she was trying to cook and had assumed the oven would be a gas one, when it was actually electric.

"You should just turn the hob and leave it in place. There is no gas," said Michelle.

The guest still didn't understand and sent a photo of the stove, with Michelle advising her to turn the knob onto "high" for cooking.

However, the guest seemingly ditched her plans to cook for herself and ordered a takeaway instead - but still ended up messaging Michelle after claiming she "can't find" the delivery.

"The delivery driver said he left it on the porch but I can't find it. Did you receive it?" asked the guest.

Michelle then shows CCTV of the porch, which shows the takeaway sitting on the floor practically next to the door, with footsteps in the snow even showing where the delivery person walked.

Commenters on Michelle's video were left in stitches over the guest's blunders, but one sympathetic user suggested the guest may have been new to the country and not understood how the appliances work.

One person wrote: "Your guest was definitely two children in a trench coat."

While another added: "Tried to get ingredients, tried to cook food, then decided to order delivery. 0/3 finished successfully."
