With over 1,600 miles of glorious coastlines it is no surprise when Welsh seaside locations are awarded or acclaimed. Examples of this include Three Cliffs Bay which was named The Times 'Best Beach in Wales' or Barafundle Bay being awarded the best beach in the UK.
This is why it has come as a huge surprise that Airbnb has not named a Welsh seaside spot in their top trending UK seaside destinations. You can keep up to date with the latest What's On news by signing up to the newsletter here.
It is hard to believe that beautiful stretches like Rhossili Bay on Gower, the gorgeous rugged coastline of Pembrokeshire, and the fun-packed Barry Island and Llandudno did not make it onto Airbnb's list. Instead, Hornsea in East Riding of Yorkshire grabbed the top spot, with other locations on the list including Formby in Merseyside and Bognor Regis in West Sussex.

How they could ignore Pendine Sands in Carmarthenshire, Newport Sands in Pembrokeshire, and Treaddur Bay in Anglesey, all named the top ten best beaches in the UK for the perfect day out in 2022, is beyond us.
Airbnb named Fleetwood in Lancashire and Formby as hidden gems. Have sea-loving holiday-makers not heard of Treath Llyfn just off the Pembrokeshire Coast Path? Or Porth Colmon in Gwynedd which is quieter and less known than the popular Abersoch beach.
The accommodation site also credited Newbiggin-by-the-Sea as a great beach for "little ones eager to learn more about marine wildlife". If you are looking for beach wildlife in Wales why not try the Newborough National Nature Reserve and Forest in Anglesey where there are sand dunes, coastal marshes, rocky shores, and a large conifer forest. There is also Oxwich National Nature Reserve on Gower where there is a wildlife oasis in the sand dunes.
