Air rage emergency sparked on easyJet flight as families row over boy watching Karate Kid

An Easyjet plane was forced to make an emergency landing after a brawl erupted mid-air between two families over a boy watching The Karate Kid.

The passenger bust-up took place 30,000ft in the air and led to the pilot having to make an emergency landing at Porto Airport in Portugal.

Upon landing, both families were thrown off the plane and greeted by police, but the five-year-old boy’s mother insists they were the victims.

“This incident involved racial abuse, discrimination, and physical assault, she told The Sun. “My son was left extremely scared and distressed.”

The family, from South London, were returning from a holiday in Lanzarote when they boarded a flight travelling to Gatwick Airport.

The boy was allegedly watching the 2010 remake onboard the flight when a woman four rows in front became irritated and asked him to turn it off.

His mother, a 26-year-old letting agent, claims the boy was watching the film on low volume, but the woman became aggressive and started shouting racial abuse at him.

She also alleges that the woman's other half grabbed her disabled partner by the neck during the ruckus.

Sources told The Sun that both families were aggressive towards the cabin crew.

A spokesperson for EasyJet said: “Safety is our highest priority. We do not tolerate disruptive behaviour.”
