They're the hottest kitchen trend of the moment and much loved for the healthy almost fat-free 'fried' dishes they produce.
But a Yorkshire gran's latest use for her air fryer has raised food fans' excitement to a new level, the Manchester Evening News reported. Bev Stewart, from Keighley, has notched up more than 5.9million views on TikTok with her revolutionary way of cooking the classic Yorkshire pudding.
Bev, 62, posts as nannabea on FoodTok and has amassed 1.4million viewers. She began posting videos of her cooking tips when her family encouraged her to set up her account during the Covid lockdowns.
And her viral video has obviously inspired other foodies. Posts about the classic Sunday roast side dish have more than 172million views on the app.
Actor John Barrowman was among the fans commenting on Bev's Yorkshire pudding video, saying: “This is brilliant!!” And the recipe couldn't be simpler. Bev says her Yorkshire pudding mix was “one cup flour, one cup milk, and one cup eggs” - and it is cooked in her air fryer at 170C for 20 minutes.
The puddings, which emerged from the air fryer fluffy, well-risen and golden, were cooked in little individual pots. Some viewers wondered where she had bought them, and fan Michael suggested searching for "pudding basins" on Amazon.
One user called the recipe “air fryer magic” while Gemma said the puds were “perfection”. Meredith thought the method of doing Yorkshire puddings was just “brilliant”.
Salma commented saying the puddings would pair perfectly “with lashings of gravy”, and Chezzierez joked: “Those look awful and you should send them all to me and if you make more I want those too!”
