THE A90 has been closed in both directions after a major crash saw fire, police, and air ambulance services scramble.
Traffic Scotland said that the trunk road had been closed just south of Laurencekirk “due to a collision” at around 10.20am on Wednesday morning.
Diversions were put in place both north- and south-bound and drivers were urged to avoid the area if possible.
Two people were rushed to hospital after the crash, one by air ambulance.
Images reported by the Daily Record showed fire engines, police bikes, and police cars on hand.
Police Scotland said in a statement: "The A90 near Laurencekirk is closed in both directions following a two vehicle crash at 10.20am on Wednesday, 12 February, 2025. The road is closed between Laurencekirk and North Water Bridge.
"Local diversions are in place and motorists should avoid the area if possible."
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said they said they dispatched multiple vehicles to the scene.
“We received a call at 10.22 to attend a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A90 near Laurencekirk,” they said.
“We dispatched two ambulances, three special operations response teams, a trauma team, and one air ambulance to the scene.
“One patient was transported to Ninewells Hospital by road and one patient was transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by air ambulance.”
In an update after 1pm, Traffic Scotland said that one north-bound lane had reopened, while the rest of the road remained closed "due to Collision Investigation Works".
